What is myotherapy?

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions using a variety of techniques - soft tissue manipulation techniques, dry needling, cupping, passive/active muscle stretching, corrective exercises and trigger point therapy. Our myotherapist will assess your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan that may involve one or more of these techniques, depending on your specific needs.

In your initial myotherapy session, our myotherapist will ask you about your present condition and questions about your medical history and any symptoms you are experiencing. Please bring with you any reports of your scans ie xrays, ultrasound, ct scan. From there assessment of your posture, range of motion, and any areas of pain or dysfunction including relevant neurological tests. Thereafter develop a personalised treatment plan based on this assessment and use a range of techniques to alleviate pain and restore function. Our myotherapist will then reassess and provide you relevant exercises and or stretches

What types of problems can be treated with myotherapy?

Myotherapy is very effective in treating a range of common conditions including stiffness & pain associated with poor posture, headaches, migraines, arthritis, pre- and post-natal conditions, associated joint & vertebral dysfunction & pain, shoulder pain, impingement syndrome, frozen shoulder, Hand & finger numbness / tingling – thoracic outlet syndrome, Scoliosis, kyphosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, problems associated with multiple sclerosis, and chronic overuse syndromes such as tendonitis, repetitive strain injury, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome.
